 The world never said,
 when I lost a friend to me.
 When the bottle broke open
 and she was taken by the sea.

 Never saw it in the papers
 or spoken secretly,
 I woke up in the morning
 knowing of this tragedy.

 In a purest sort of slumber,
 and a peaceful, quiet face
 you'd never know such violence
 had taken her to this place.

 We only hope for life, 
 and to escape from all the blame.
 But we promised her return
 when we toasted in her name.

 With so many big distractions
 time will mostly say;
 how we all must be forgiven,
 how we'll all just be okay.

 Although you might have guessed it
 was a lesson learned in vain,
 it was never quite suggested
 that I lost a friend today.
