 i was working in the computer lab one night
 nothing exceptional, really, just another shift
 when
 some of my buddies showed up
 and started jabbering at me.

 i told the other labbies i was going upstairs
 to work in an empty lab 
 since it was crowded in the main lab but i really
 just
 wanted to rule my own lab with my buddies.
 
 we were all loud and abusive
 jay said hello to everyone who came in
 jeremy cussed a lot
 sean said nothing and i quit working on my novel
 to try and get hold of my girlfriend.

 we were essentially nerds
 on a lazy-ass rampage in a computer lab.
 
 people ignored us as best they could
 the lab stayed pretty empty
 and time passed
 much faster than it would if i was stuck
 in the other lab.

 when everyone else started playing chess i decided to read.
