 Grains of sand heaved up by angry winds,
 Winds blown down from the mountains,
 Mountain streams follow their skyward companions,
 And trickle down to collect in the river.

 Lush with fish and flowers the river once winded,
 There was a slow meander of nature as virgin waters
 Found their way to sea by the pull of Earth but,
 That grain of time has fallen through neck of the flask.

 The inhabitants downstream demanded more water
 As their town wall expanded and the city became populous,
 Requiring the tears of Uranus the fate of the river is questioned.
 Aquifers become taps and the river is choking.

 Underground reserves of fresh water seem limitless,
 However the thirst for green desert lawns, shinny vehicles,
 A pool at every residence, excessive bathing, and industry 
 Have lowered the aquifer, drained the river, killed the nature.
