        I looked around the other day at the town I live in and the people
 enclosed in its two city limit signs and decided: I hate it.  All of it.

        I hate the town and it's "Forest City" forresty content.  I hate the
 fact that the lanes which look so nice to stroll down barefooted are lined
 and strewn with those 'gumball' things that break the skin and leave funny
 prints gouged into your tender bottom-foot flesh.  I hate the one and only
 grocery store where, if you lose your job, you are forced to apply for Food
 Stamps at the government office and they broadcast your misfortune and laugh
 as you leave.  I hate the banks, the barber shops, and all of the public and
 private buildings that line the streets.  I hate the punk-ass people who
 live here.  I like the cops, and I like the park.  But don't let the cops
 catch you in the park after 5 pm.  They are liable to Rodney-King your ass.

        I hate the fact that the high school boasts about their sports and
 band and preppy crap... and people who are truly smart and graduate have
 nowhere to go from there.  It's like a big truck stop.  If your car breaks
 down here, you just have to take up residence until it gets fixed... or
 until it gets towed away and you are stuck here forever.

        I hate the fact that the nasty homes have everything you need.  I pay
 too much for this two bedroom, really cute place, and the heat doesn't work.
 I guess instead of you, I should have written my congressman.  But he lives
 on a nice street.  He's not on food stamps.  His dog shits outside.  And his
 heat works.  So, he's probably too content to deal with me.
